Last night I heard a catfight. I haven't heard cats fight in a long time. There does not seem to be as many stray cats in midtown as twenty years ago. This was entered by The Walker on November 30, 2009. Isn't this great walking weather. This fall has been the most beautiful I've seen.
Welcome to the SPL Sandbox
If you want to have big fun, you've come to the right place. (Just remember: no throwing sand...). Stick with me and I'll show you how to build a castle or two.
Let your inner child run free: change the font, sprinkle in some color, mess with formatting, reword the content, add information. Empower yourself!
Just found links to a map of library cats
Thought it might be fun to share here
There are links to pictures of library cats by state or country

Picture of a cat "Dewey" from Mission Viejo, Library Mission Viejo, California
I saw what I thought was a group of cats (a clowder) in the bushes in front of my apartment the other night, but when I got closer, I found a raccoon glaring at me accompanied by some raccoon friends.
When I was a kid I loved to play in the sandbox.
As an adult I won't go near them!
This is fun! I like how you can click on the "star" up in the left hand corner and it SAID it would notify you when there are changes, I hope so. I'm glad we're trying all of these new things. And hello to you too lordy! Here is a picture of my house, builder says October 1st for a move-in! Whoo-hoo!
This is posted on June 6th!
Natalie
Following the progress of your house is one of the defining things about these 27 Things to me.
It's a really very nice part of the process.
We're all learning how to do new things and all, but we get to put them to our own uses, which is a really important part of the point.
So thanks for sharing - your house is looking Good !
Okay, now I found the sandbox.. after scrawling on the front page. Now I better go back and see if I can delete what I put there. Let's try to insert a picture or link. It looks like I got it uploaded but I'm not seeing it in this note. I just copied and pasted in the shortcut -does that work? http://spl-learning.pbworks.com/f/babe%20in%20frame.jpg
Not quite there yet...at any rate, the babe in the frame is my first -born, some 26+ years ago...
This is way cool I can add to what others have started. I love it.
Thanks for letting me play in the sandbox too. Hi Natalie, I know you're going to read this and wonder if it is you that I'm talking to. Well it is. LOL Lordy...
Thanks for letting us play in the sand JT. The sand theme is great; reminds me of the movie The Sandlot, Maui's beaches, and the relaxing feeling of wet sand squishing between your toes.
I like how wikis can include, links, video, and photos; very flexible. Here's a blast from the past:
Back to "work".
Just to help get the giggles started, here's a link to Stephen Colbert's site and another to some of The New Yorker's great cartoons.
Today is May 27th! Are you having a good day?
And now, I'm off to the Staff Blogs page to add my blog to the table.
Easy-Beasy, cha-cha-cha
My Little Cthulhu
Just add water to this sandbox, and you get mud. Then you can make some mudpies!
Likes sandboxes.
A great deal.
Hmm . . . watching patrons indulge in their varying bizarre behaviors - do they think they are invisible? Like being in a car? So many nose pickers can be found in cars; does that force field extend into the library? One wonders.
Play nice...
Libraries and cats seem to go together. The obvious name seems to be "Dewey", after Melvil Dewey and the Dewey Decimal System. Wonder if any are named 636.80887, which is the DDC number for cats as pets, or 599.75 (lions, tigers, leopards, etc.)--or "LC" for Library of Congress.
Speaking of library pets, I seem to remember that KIN used to have a parakeet. Could there be libraries out there with really exotic pets--a library python, perhaps?
And what about the fabulous fishies at Cooledge? And Sherlock at McClatchy? It was a while ago, but certainly should count.
Ok, I didn't mean for this picture to end up being quite so big - but I don't have control over these kinds of things, obviously. This looks like the kind of place where I'd like to work. All it needs is a bookstore (or library) cat! Wouldn't that be cool place to work and just think, no DDC. And if you can't find it there, I'll bet it can't be found.
Though this is a little off topic, I found instructions for building a child's sandbox in How Stuff Works http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/how-to-make-toys7.htm
This is Megan. Sandboxes are fun!

I don't know what to add here! HAHA! Sidney
Wow, sandboxing is fun...really getting into the nitty gritty here. It's fun to share a sandbox like kids with fellow workers. Sort of like "Kick the Can" in Twilight Zone. If we really believe we are children again, and play in this digital sandbox, we will become kids again, and cross over to...the Twlight Zone!

I have a note card of this book store. There's a lady just out of the picture on the right and she's barely visible. I agree this book store looks so wonderful.

Don't forget Sylvan Oaks also has a fishtank. Do the bunnys that run around out back count as library animals too? I think they should. Then I start to hear Red Skelton song "Uwanna Buy A Bunny" and it's all Gloria B's fault.

Hi all this is an image I found that I thought would go with my comment from yesterday. http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/3689390766/. I have a correction to make too "Ya Wanna Buy a Bunny" is a Spike Jones song not Red Skelton.
